What: X acquired 10,000 GPUs for an AI project in April 2023. The tax break is a component of a $700 million project to install IT equipment.The agreement is projected to generate more than $16 million in new tax revenue over the next decade.

Elon Musk’s social media firm X received a $10.1 million tax break to keep data center hardware in Atlanta, Georgia.
The company had threatened to relocate to Portland, Oregon, if the tax break was not granted.
X already had most of the equipment for its AI project shipped to Atlanta.
The tax break would save X about 21% on operating costs.
Noteworthy: The tax break is expected to generate more than $16 million in new tax revenue over the next decade. It will also create 50 new temporary jobs.
